Aquamare Marine was commissioned to carry out a full teak deck refurbishment on a Princess V78 whose original teak had suffered from years of exposure, resulting in surface wear, seam degradation and water ingress concerns. The owner requested a complete replacement to restore the yacht’s aesthetic, ensure long-term durability and preserve its resale value.
Our specialist carpentry and decking team treated the deck as a critical structural and visual element, not just a cosmetic finish. By removing the aged teak, preparing the substrate to a flawless standard, and installing new premium-grade teak with vacuum-bonded techniques and hand-finished seams, we delivered a surface that looks and performs like a new build.
The completed teak decking delivered:
The owner was extremely satisfied, noting that the new deck dramatically elevated the yacht’s overall feel and presentation.
Our carpentry and decking specialists carried out a detailed inspection of all exterior deck areas, including cockpit, side decks and bathing platform. The assessment confirmed that the existing teak and its substrate required full removal to eliminate the risk of future delamination and ensure a sound base for the new installation.
We methodically removed the old teak, taking great care to protect the underlying structure. All adhesive, screws and legacy materials were fully cleared, ensuring a clean and stable bonding surface ready for the new deck.
The deck was sanded, levelled and fully degreased using marine-grade cleaning agents. All uneven areas were faired to guarantee a smooth, even base that would support the new teak installation and prevent future issues.
Premium-grade teak was selected and fabricated to the Princess V78’s exacting templates and radius profiles. The new teak was carefully fitted and secured using modern bonding systems, with tight, uniform caulking seams, precision mitred corners and a symmetrical plank layout matching original factory styling.
After curing, all seams were hand-caulked with high-performance marine sealant. The deck was then sanded to a silky, even finish that complemented the yacht’s contemporary design, delivering a surface that is both beautiful and highly durable.
